Great place to stay overnight on route to Devon. Next to a railway line but you'd barely notice. 5 in the charity box for overnight stay. Would definitely stay here again.
Always enjoyed a visit to the B & A, Michael is a really good chef, not the cheapest in town but a lot better than most.. Slightly pricey but you get what you pay for, yes it's worth five stars
While I was riding my bike along the canal, I stopped at the boat & anchor for a pint and a meal, and what a fantastic place, very friendly staff I sat outside in the sun watching all the canal traffic passing by it was lovely.
Clean light and airy in the conservatory/carvery. Plenty of food but bland. Beef was nice. Had a lemon meringue pie. Certainly home made but not the delicate morsel I was expecting! Would have been useful if a fight had broken out
Sit outside, next to the canal and enjoy the countryside whilst supping a pint of local cider. Forget the world around you and relax. The main rail line passes in sight, the M5 is visible but the canal takes all your attention. Nice staff, nice atmosphere, good food and accommodation.
